After a fabulous luxurious stay at The Swan Hotel in Lavenham I still have the lovely food to share with you!

The restaurant itself features handsome high timbered ceilings, exposed brickwork walls and boasts an impressive fireplace.

I felt like we stepped back in time when dinner arrived, as the restaurant looks almost medieval in its surroundings, much like a lot of the buildings in lovely Lavenham itself. It’s the perfect location, to experience the beautiful food on offer, especially since all dishes are lovingly prepared.

This definitely is a unique dining experience, the room is full of romance and oozes history, all within the four walls of your hotel.

We ate from the a la carte menu and every course was as delicious as the next.

To start: Terrine of Suffolk chicken with char-grilled lettuce, roast garlic and parmesan panna cotta

For mains: Trio of Suffolk pork with summer vegetables and apple jus

And to finish: Vanilla parfait with elderflower jelly and textures of raspberry

My favourite course was the succulent suffolk pork, with a bold apple jus. The plush puddings were also perfectly light and fluffy in texture and almost melted in my mouth. The elderflower jelly was a lovely twist on a modern classic vanilla parfait.

I would definitely recommend visiting The Swan, even if it is just for an evening meal in the Gallery Restaurant, you will no doubt be seduced by its charm and character.
