London EC3N 1Q
Nearest Tube: Aldgate (closest) or Tower Hill
Motel One Hotel:
Motel One, Tower Hill is centrally located between Aldgate and Tower Hill tube stations. The Tower Hill location is the German hotel chains' only current London location, with others already located in Edinburgh, and the newest in Manchester, along with other various locations across Europe.
Prices are affordable for those on a budget, starting from £98 per night for double with queen bed, excluding breakfast to the top end of a city view room with queen bed and breakfast included at £127.
The best feature of the Motel One is the hotel lounge area featuring a range of seating areas, with 24hr access to the bar. The sleek, contemporary interior and design of the trendy lounge caught my eye, with its plush brown chesterfield sofas and arm-chairs dotted around and an open fireplace.
Motel One Bedroom:
Rooms are on the small side, however, very cosy and decorated with duck egg blue and warm gold tones. You have all the amenities you would need for a short one or two night stay. Amenities include free in-room WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities, a small hanging space, hairdryer, TV and a movable desk area.
The bathroom features only a shower, so no lazing the bath I'm afraid, but the shower does feature a lovely granite finish with glass divider. The bathroom has that modern, luxurious feel and is ideal for a short break.
My room was on the 8th floor, towards the top of the hotel and featured ample views over Tower bridge and the London skyline - I could see the Gerkin from my room!
Motel One Breakfast:
I'd be lying if I said the prospect of eating a full English breakfast wasn't the first thing I thought about upon waking up in a hotel...
I know a few of you may be disappointed like me by the 'continental only' breakfast option at Motel One, however there was a full selection of cold meats, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast and hot drinks. There are also hard and soft boiled eggs available which took me that one step closer to a hot breakfast.
I really enjoyed - it was different to most hotel's as the lounge downstairs is very sociable and was a great place to sit for a few hours to enjoy breakfast and have a couple of coffees before heading back up to my room before check-out.
I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this to anybody seeking a budget on-trend hotel in London. Otherwise, I'd definitely consider their European locations when looking for a affordable city break.
