A few weekends ago I was kindly invited to stay at Careys Manor Hotel and Spa located in Brockenhurst within the beautiful New Forest.

This was a treat because I have never visited the New Forest, and I've heard so many things; mostly about it's lush green surroundings, others, (like free roaming horses in the village just crossing the roads as they please) which I needed to see for myself.

Careys Manor is set back in breath-taking, ever-green gardens, surrounded by the heart of the new forest and miles of countryside and scattered villages and towns.

As you can see from the pictures above, there are lots of little hidden treasures dotted among the hotel grounds - like the 'secret garden' I found behind a Alice-in-wonderland style wooden door, nestled within the trees. I even spied a beautiful white framed bed covered in its earthly surroundings.

The hotel is one where you arrive, and automatically think "I could picture a beautiful wedding ceremony here" - or maybe that's just the way my brain is thinking; either way, that's when I know I've found a special hotel worth remembering.

We were placed within an Oakwood Garden Room, with floor to ceiling windows looking out towards the grand front entrance of the hotel; with a lovely view of again, lots of greenery! Little touches within the room included some over-whelming treats for us (and me!) including a bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne, some new forest chocolates and some products straight from the SenSpa downstairs. Oh how excited this made me for the Spa!

In excitement, we poured ourselves a glass of fancy champagne, dressed up in our bathrobes and plush slippers ready for our SenSpa experience.

The SenSpa was a whole new experience. We had the upgraded package where we had access to the Hydrotherapy facilities. We skipped straight across to the hydrotherapy pool; this pool was the perfect temperature, filled with jets; sure to target each and every tired muscle possible - it was blissful.

We also tried the experience showers; complete with tropical storm mode, with jungle sound effects and cold and warm water spurts. We then both braved the ice bucket; a extremely cold plunge - but a great transition from hot to cold. Plus I had great fun watching Alex squeal as I poured the bucket full of ice all over his head. What a lovely girlfriend I am!

In the evening we were set to try the A La Carte three-course menu within The Cambium Restaurant - but I've saved this indulgent event for another post guys (I'm in danger of too many pictures and too much rambling cramping my style!).

After a restful night sleep in our huge bed, what better way to wake up - a full new forest breakfast; complete with all the trimmings. When late morning broke, sadly we were on our way home, but not before we stopped in the nearby town of Brockenhurst; small but quaint, and that was where I saw the free-roaming horses. The rumours were indeed true!

I'd like to thank the wonderful staff at Careys manor for the very enjoyable stay and for making us feel so welcome!

And remember - if your going to stay at the hotel, or just visit the SenSpa, I'd definitely recommend the hydrotherapy upgrade for £35 per person - the extra facilities are well worth the money!

Over and out.
